The Allegria retained the the Egypt Troon Cup after coming out on top in the second annual match against Madinaty Golf Club in Cairo.
The match was the second between the two clubs, which are two flagship properties are managed and operated by Troon under the Troon Golf brand, in the past six months, with the concept designed to create friendly competition between the two Troon-managed properties.
The tournament was held at Madinaty Golf Club and was once again played in a match-play setup with members representing each club in a Ryder Cup format, the fixture was a close-run spectacle with The Allegria just coming out on top. Twenty members represented each club, with players divided into ten teams from each club before competing in a traditional match play format.
Following the day’s play, lunch was served at the club’s two restaurants, followed by a prize giving ceremony. The winning team all received medals to crown their achievement and now extend their bragging rights by getting to take the tournament trophy back to their clubhouse. The rematch is already scheduled for September 2022 at The Allegria’s Greg Norman Signature Golf Course, the first of its kind in Egypt.
This friendly tournament continues to strengthen and is beginning to foster a friendly social aspect between the clubs.
