Record Five UAE Players Set for Asia-Pacific Amateur at Emirates Golf Club

The UAE will field a record five players when the 16th Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship returns to Dubai from October 23–26, 2025, at the iconic Majlis Course, Emirates Golf Club.

Ahmad Skaik, Rayan Ahmad, Abdulla Kalbat, Jonathan Selvaraj and Sam Mullane will fly the flag for the host nation as the region’s top amateurs take on one of golf’s most prestigious stages.

Skaik Set for Fitting Farewell

For Ahmad Skaik, the UAE’s No.1 amateur, it’s a milestone week — his sixth and final appearance before turning professional.
“Tournaments like the Asia-Pacific Amateur have been pivotal in my journey,” said Skaik. “It feels like the perfect way to end my amateur career, representing my country at home.”

Mullane and Selvaraj make their Championship debuts after standout seasons that included WAGR-ranked victories and domestic titles, while Ahmad and Kalbat, both just 18, return following last year’s appearances in Japan — where Ahmad made the cut on debut.

Life-Changing Opportunity Awaits

Established in 2009 by the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation, The R&A, and The Masters Tournament, the Championship provides a direct pathway to the game’s greatest stages.
The winner earns invitations to the 2026 Masters Tournament and The 154th Open, while leading finishers gain exemptions into The Amateur Championship and The Open Qualifying Series.

Notable past champions include Hideki Matsuyama, Cameron Smith, Takumi Kanaya, and Min Woo Lee, with Asia-Pacific Amateur alumni having won over 140 professional titles worldwide.

Majlis take centre stage

Hosting the Championship for the first time, the Majlis Course — the Middle East’s first grass layout and long-time home of the Hero Dubai Desert Classic — provides the perfect setting for a landmark week in UAE golf.
Designed by Karl Litten and opened in 1988, the course has welcomed legends including Seve Ballesteros, Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, and Ernie Els, whose 61 remains the course record.

With a record UAE contingent and one of the world’s most iconic venues, the stage is set for an unforgettable showcase of regional golf talent.
