Pargeter and Boeglin crowned Qatar Senior Open champions at Doha Golf Club

Lee Pargeter and Eva Boeglin were crowned Men’s and Ladies Qatar Senior Open champions respectively after two thrilling days at Doha Golf Club.

A full field of players, ranging from local to international visitors, played 36 holes of golf over a weekend full of strong winds, and unseasonably hot temperatures.

Day one saw the mercury rise to a temperature of 39 degrees, along with very strong winds and long rough, on a course being set up for the visit of the DP World Tour later this month.

In the Mens Gross Division (Over 50’s), Tom Sweigart from Education City Golf Club led the field with a fantastic one under par 71.  This was closely followed by Lee Pargeter with a level par 72.  In the Men’s Net Division (Over 45’s), Yohann Pedder returned a four under net 68 to top the field.

In the Ladies section, Eva Boeglin returned a gross 84 to lead the field by six after 18 holes, while Brenda Hill carded a three over par net 76 to lead the Net Division by two from Tasnim Kazi.

Final round

Pargeter battled the conditions with a three over 75, which led him to the title, and a two shot victory over Sweigart.  In the Men’s Net division, Stephen Playforth stormed through the field with a net 66 to win the title by two shots from Rosman Mohammad Thaib

The Ladies Gross Division places stayed the same from the first round with Boeglin taking home the title and Tasnim Kazi finishing as the runner-up.  In the Net Division, Uzma Mir topped the leaderboard with scores of 74 and 76, ahead of runner-up Brenda Hill.
