Amateurs win back the Dubai Golf Trophy

The Amateurs displayed their dominance over their Professional counterparts in a resounding victory of 19.5-12.5, as they reclaimed the prestigious Dubai Golf Trophy following 54 thrilling holes at Jumeirah Golf Estates and Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club.

This 24th edition of the showdown featured the top 16 Amateurs and Professionals, comprising 12 automatic qualifiers from the season-long UAE PGA tournaments and qualifying Emirates Golf Federation events held across the UAE, along with four wildcard selections.

Heading into Sunday, the Amateurs held a commanding 10-6 lead, and on Monday, they successfully clinched the title that had slipped through their fingers at Emirates Golf Club the previous year.

Unlike their narrow one-point victory in the prior encounter, the Amateurs enjoyed a more comfortable triumph this time. They secured nine out of 16 singles matches, sealing the deal convincingly.

The standout performance of the day came from Matt Brookes, who delivered an impressive 7&6 victory over Dan Byrne.

Jules Lompech’s hard-fought draw against David Guinee ultimately secured the coveted trophy for the Amateurs.
