Al Hamra Golf Club’s profile ‘significantly elevated’ by hosting DP World Tour events

The DP World Tour’s Ras Al Khamaih Championship has played a major role in boosting the profile of Al Hamra Golf Club, according to the club’s General Manager Paul Booth.

Next year will mark the 4th season in a row that the club is set to host a DP World Tour event, with the most recent edition won by 2018 Ryder Cup star Thorbjørn Olesen.

The tournament has established itself as a key fixture in the Middle East swing, highlighting a different part of the UAE, away from the well-known hubs of Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

“The DP World Tour events have significantly elevated the profile of Al Hamra Golf Club,” said Booth. “It’s drawn international attention, and enhanced our reputation as a premier golf destination.

“These events have brought increased visibility, tourism, and economic benefits to the club and the region. Additionally, they’ve fostered stronger partnerships in the golfing community and inspired local players and enthusiasts.

“In recent years, the UAE has witnessed a rise in rounds played and membership growth. This reflects the region’s increasing popularity and our high standard of facilities and programs.

“While precise numbers are used internally for Al Hamra, the trend indicates a growing community of passionate golfers and members.”

Away from the DP World Tour, Al Hamra has also become known for some other high-profile events, most recently on the Clutch Pro Tour.

The UK-based development circuit made its stop at Al Hamra this year, hosting a tournament for aspiring elite professionals with a £30,000 prize fund and a Challenge Tour qualifier spot on offer.

The club is also set to host the prestigious Bonallack and Patsy Hankins Trophies, both highly respected in the golfing world, in the coming months.
