Road to Ras Al Khaimah top three take in the sights at Al Wadi Nature Reserve

The top three players on the European Challenge Tour’s Road to Ras Al Khaimah let their hair down ahead of the season-ending Ras Al Khaimah Challenge Tour Grand Final when they visited the picturesque Al Wadi Nature Reserve in Ras Al Khaimah.

Challenge Tour No.1 Joachim B. Hansen, Frenchman Victor Perez and Finland’s Kalle Samooja will go head-to-head at Al Hamra Golf Club tomorrow (Wednesday) in a bid to finish the season as Challenge Tour No.1 but the three men came together under the scorching UAE sun to hit some balls into the stunning Al Wadi Nature Reserve.

The reserve, which spans 1,235 acres within Wadi Khadeja, is famed for its natural beauty and wildlife and welcomes guests from across the world who long to experience the sights and sounds of nature in the northern emirate. As well as the fantastic views, guests can also enjoy a range of activities with Falconry Shows, Camel and Horse Riding and Catch and Release Fishing all being held in the reserve.

“I had a lot of fun today. It was great to see a bit more of Ras Al Khaimah on what is a very special week for me,” said Hansen.

“I am staying in downtown Ras Al Khaimah this week, which I’m really enjoying,” added Samooja who won the Hainan Open earlier this month. “To come down and see the Al Wadi Nature Reserve has been another fantastic experience.”

Along with the Al Wadi Nature Reserve, Ras Al Khaimah boasts plenty of adventurous activities for thrill seekers to get their adrenaline fix in and around the stunning Jebel Jais, the UAE’s highest mountain range. The Via Ferrata hiking, biking and climbing routes have all gained top Tripadvisor ranking among the emirate’s attractions after welcoming thousands of active adventurers in its first six months of operations.

Fans will also be able to experience a thrill like no other at Jebel Jais, where temperatures are 10 degrees cooler than sea level, with the northern emirate home to the World’s Longest Zipline: Jebel Jais Flight.

Measuring 2.83km and officially certified by Guinness World Records as the World’s Longest Zipline, thrill-seekers fly at speeds of up to 150kph, high above the 1,680m high, Jebel Jais mountain. After completing the first zipline, guests will reach a suspended landing platform, which is the first of its kind, before being transferred to a second zipline measuring 1km to complete the journey back to the ground.  Since opening in February 2018, this global bucket list attraction has achieved a strong following from adrenaline junkies across the world and has received over 10,000 guests in the first half of the year.

Haitham Mattar, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority said:

“High profile events such as the Ras Al Khaimah Challenge Tour Grand Final also help us attract an increasing number of international visitors and UAE residents who also want to experience everything Ras Al Khaimah has to offer. With our unique natural landscape of pristine beaches, terracotta desert and the UAE’s highest mountain range we cater to those looking for luxurious relaxation, culture or adventure.  With the recent opening of Jebel Jais Flight: The World’s Longest Zipline in the stunning Hajar Mountains visitors will also have the opportunity to tick off a truly bucket list experience.”
