Solheim Cup stars Angel Yin and Charley Hull moved within striking distance of Anne Van Dam to set up an intriguing final round at the Omega Dubai Ladies Classic at Emirates Golf Club.
Big-hitting American Yin carded a stunning 65 to move to within two of Van Dam alongside Sweden’s Pernilla Lindberg, while England’s Hull fired a 67 to sit three strokes back on 9-under-par.
“I am really happy with my round. Overall, I stroked it pretty well and made a few putts,” said Yin, who finished in a share of 10th at last year’s Omega Dubai Ladies Classic.
“I hit my iron shots really good. I made four consecutive birdies and three of them were a foot away from the hole, so they were simple tap-ins. Usually, when you start off well, you don’t close it off that well, but I did that today.” – Yin
Van Dam shot a 2-under-par 70 to consolodate her position at the top but knows she will have to be at her best if she is to hang on and win her second Ladies European Tour title.
“It was a bit up and down,” said the 22-year-old. “There were some good things also. On some little shots I struggled a little bit, but I would say overall, a two-under round is fine.”
Indian starlet Aditi Ashok sits alongside Hull in a share of fourth place after a 68 while six players – including past winner and reigning Women’s British Open champion In Kyung Kim – are four strokes back and all have a realistic chance of winning if they go low in the final round.
