Rory McIlroy’s conquered Augusta, joined Seve in the history books, and now he is heading back to his happy hunting ground in Dubai to defend his crown at the 2025 DP World Tour Championship, held on the iconic Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates from November 13–16.
Fresh off completing the career Grand Slam earlier this year – finally slipping into that elusive Green Jacket – Rory’s not just chasing trophies anymore, he’s chasing legacy. And where better to add another chapter than in the city where he’s already lifted three DP World Tour Championship titles (2012, 2015, 2024) and clinched six Race to Dubai crowns.
Monty’s Record in Sight
Last year, the 36-year-old Northern Irishman delivered a clinic in ball-striking and bottle to equal Seve Ballesteros’ all-time Race to Dubai record – and he’s still got Monty’s tally in his sights. With four more titles in Dubai across his glittering career, Rory heads back to the Middle East sitting atop the current Race to Dubai rankings, with Tyrrell Hatton hot on his heels.
Before he returns to Jumeirah, Rory will also tee it up in Abu Dhabi for the HSBC Championship, the first event in the DP World Tour Play-Offs. His place in both Play-Off events is already secured thanks to a highlight reel of results this season, including that win at The Masters, a T4 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, solo second at the Genesis Scottish Open, and a T7 at The Open at Portrush.
Why Dubai is Rory’s Special Place
“Dubai has always been a special place for me,” said McIlroy. “Winning both the DP World Tour Championship and the Race to Dubai last year was an incredible way to finish the season. To equal Seve’s record made it even more special. I’ve played some great golf this year and I’m looking forward to finishing strong again in front of the fans at Jumeirah Golf Estates.”
