Asian Tour Offers Lifeline to Former LIV Golf Star Hudson Swafford

Hudson Swafford’s career is at a crossroads after failing to secure a spot on the LIV Golf circuit for the 2025 season. The former PGA Tour winner, who joined the Saudi-backed league in its inaugural event in London in June 2022, remained part of the roster through 2023 and 2024 but has struggled with injuries and form in recent years.

After competing alongside stars like Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka, and Bryson DeChambeau, Swafford was handed a wildcard for the 2024 season. However, he failed to capitalize, finishing 55th in the individual standings without cracking the top 30 in any of the 54-man events.

Career

To extend his LIV career, the 37-year-old participated in LIV Promotions, a qualifying event where the top performer earns a spot on the league’s roster. Unfortunately, Hudson Swafford finished last, carding six over par and effectively ending his chances of returning for a fourth season.

PGA TOUR Winner

A three-time PGA Tour winner, most recently at the 2022 American Express, Hudson Swafford finds himself ineligible for both LIV Golf and the PGA Tour. Players seeking a PGA Tour comeback from LIV must serve a one-year suspension after their final event in the breakaway league, but Swafford’s lack of a tour card further complicates his path.

Facing limited options, the Floridian may turn to the Asian Tour, where an invite could provide a much-needed lifeline. A strong showing there, particularly by winning the International Series Order of Merit, might reignite his career and open the door to a LIV Golf return in 2026.
