On October 15th – 18th 2024, the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) is hosting the 30th Nomura Cup at Vinperal Golf Hai Phong in Hai Phong Vietnam which will feature a strong three-man team from the United Arab Emirates.

Representing the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) will be Ahmad Skaik, Sam Mullane and the reigning EGF Order of Merit champion Jonathan Selvaraj.

The Nomura Cup, also known as the APGC Team Championship, is a biennial amateur team golf championship for men. Starting in 1963, the 2024 edition of the APGC Team Championship will host over 15 different countries.

The tournament consists of 18 holes of strokeplay each day, the best two daily rounds counting for the team. Australia has dominated the tournament, winning the Cup 10 times, while Japan has claimed the title seven times. This event also has an individual champion.

The 30th Nomura Cup will be played on the Ninperal Golf Hai Phong – Marsh Course. This course stretches to 7,508 yards, par 72, and features challenging natural marshy terrain. Five out of the final six holes have water hazards which will make the finish a true test.

“This might be one of the strongest teams that we have representing at the UAE at the Nomura Cup,” , said Secretary General Khalid Mubarak Al Shamsi. “These gentlemen are ready, and we are excited to see how we match up with the other strong nations of the APGC.”

Captained by UAE National Golf Coach, Faycel Serghin, this team is looking to make an impact. With plenty of international experience from Skaik and Mullane, team UAE should have a strong showing. Secretary General Khalid Mubarak Al Shamsi will also be accompanying the team.

The first round of play will start on Tuesday morning. To follow the action of Team UAE follow the Emirates Golf Federation on social media.
