Daniel Brown hoping to end 2023 on a high following ‘life changing’ year

Daniel Brown hopes to end the year on a high at this week’s 2023 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open following an ‘unbelievable’ first season on the DP World Tour.

The Englishman made 24 of 28 cuts on the 2023 DP World Tour, while he also heads into the new season as a proven winner following a five-shot victory at the ISPS HANDA World Invitational.

His triumph in Northern Ireland secured him an improved Category 4 DP World Tour card which now enables him greater flexibility with his playing schedule.

When asked if 2023 was a life changing year, Brown told Worldwide Golf: “Yeah, I would say so.

“I couldn’t have ever dreamed up what happened. I got my card from Q-School, so going into the season I was thinking ‘right, I’m going to keep my card’.

“All of sudden you win. Even just playing Nedbank and obviously in Dubai topped it off. Unbelievable.

“I still want to try and keep my feet on the ground. Try and keep getting better and see where we end up this season.”

Next up for the Englishman is teeing up at Heritage La Réserve GC before heading home for the festive break.

“This week was one I had my eye on,” added the 29-year-old. “I’ve never been to Mauritius before.

“I’m going to just try to have a bit more of a relaxing week than usual. I’m going to try and stay for a couple of days afterwards, chill out before going back home for Christmas.”

AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open is set to get underway on December 14, 2023.
