Is LIV Golf heading to Ireland?

Greg Norman has revealed LIV Golf are considering hosting an event in Ireland.

The controversial Saudi-backed circuit has already staged tournaments in countries which aren’t as common on the international golfing calendar, such as last month in Australia.

And while Ireland remains a regular destination for the DP World Tour, a LIV Golf event would give locals a chance to watch the likes of Phil Mickelson and Brooks Koepka in the flesh.

When asked about LIV Golf’s future schedule, CEO Norman said in a report with The Irish News: “We’re looking at 25/26, 26/27, 27/28 now. The popularity and the success has spoken for itself.

“So yes, countries like Ireland who are a passionate golf country, passionate destination country, not only for Americans, but for Europeans to go play there.

“I’ve built golf courses there, which I’m very, very proud of, so from my perspective, of course, we’re going to keep all options open.”

Trump played at Doonbeg earlier this during a visit

The Australian was the original designer of Doonbeg Golf Course in Co Clare, which is now owned by Donald Trump.

It’s now known as Trump International Golf Links & Hotel Doonbeg Ireland and is located on the west coast of the country.

But before there’s any event in Ireland confirmed, LIV Golf takes centre stage this week at Cedar Ridge Country Club in Tulsa, USA.
