Tiger Woods visits Augusta National ahead of the Masters

While the game’s stars names were just getting their first rounds underway at the prestigious Players Championship, arguably the greatest player of them all, Tiger Woods, was practicing at Augusta National ahead of next month’s Masters Tournament.

According to Sports Illustrated, the five-time Masters champion visited the iconic venue in preparation for just his second start of the season following his outing at the Genesis Invitational.

Two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson was also at Augusta National last Thursday, while Rory McIlroy, who would complete the Grand Slam with victory, and defending Masters champion Scottie Scheffler visited on Monday.

“My intent last year was to play in all four Majors, I got three of the four,” said Woods after the final round of the Genesis Invitational last month, where he tied for 45th in his first start since last year’s 150th Open Championship at St. Andrews.

“Hopefully this year I can get all four and maybe sprinkle in a few here and there. But that’s it for the rest of my career. I know that and I understand that. That’s just my reality.”

The former World No.1  completed the comeback of the decade from the depths of despair to win his 15th Major Championship at the Masters in 2019. There were wild celebrations around the 18th green as Woods secured a one-stroke triumph over fellow Americans Dustin Johnson, Xander Schauffele and Brooks Koepka.
