Jack Nicklaus reveals Tiger Woods’ desire to play PGA TOUR Champions

Jack Nicklaus revealed Tiger Woods wants to play the PGA TOUR Champions when he turns 50.

Woods, who has won 15 Major Championships, remains in the hunt to overtake Nicklaus’ Major haul of 18 titles.

However, it remains a big ask for the 2019 Masters winner considering his persistent battles with injuries and struggles with his physical health.

But despite the question marks around 47-year-old’s future in the game, Nicklaus stated his fellow American has desires to play senior tour golf.

Speaking on Sir Nick Faldo’s podcast about Woods’ struggles to walk, Nicklaus said: “I told him, ‘Tiger, you’re eligible to take a cart,’ he says, ‘I’m not going to do that,’ he says, ‘when I get to the senior tour, I will.’”

Faldo responded: “Oh, he’s actually thinking he would come back out at 50?”

Nicklaus said: “He wants to play the senior tour.”

Any player on the senior tour can use a cart, while regular tour players have to apply for permission to use a cart if they have a disability.

Nicklaus, who turned 83 in January, played on the senior tour himself and won eight ‘senior’ Majors titles.
