World Golf Hall of Fame awards ‘a total joke’ – Claude Harmon III

Claude Harmon III has branded the 2024 World Golf Hall of Fame awards “a total joke” for not inducting his father and world-renowned instructor Butch Harmon.

The Class of 2024 was announced this week with the likes of Padraig Harrington and Sandra Palmer chosen to receive World Golf Hall of Fame status.

They were selected from a group of 12 finalists with the official induction ceremony set to take place in June at the U.S. Open at Pinehurst.

Butch Harmon was also nominated as a finalist, but wasn’t selected to receive Hall of Fame status this time around.

This is despite a life-long career devoted to the game as a coach, working with some of the biggest names to swing a club, most notably Tiger Woods.

His son, Claude, has also followed in his footsteps and insisted on social media his father should have been included.

“So no Butch Harmon? Really?” said Claude. “He should have already been in.

“And he still doesn’t get in this time? Hasn’t he done enough for the game?

“He has worked with over ten players that are already in. What a total joke.

“Absolutely ridiculous Butch isn’t already in, and a joke he didn’t get in this time.”

Along with Harrington and Palmer, the others to receive the award this year are Johnny Farrell, Beverly Hanson, Tom Weiskopf and the 13 LPGA Founders.

The finalists were nominated by the Hall of Fame’s Nominating Committee, which vetted candidates that met the qualifications.
