Justin Rose splits with Sean Foley as season of change continues

It’s time for Justin Rose to take ownership of his own swing – at least that’s what he believes after mutually agreeing to end his 11-year relationship with coach Sean Foley.

Rose recently parted ways with club manufactures Honma, and now is going it alone from a coaching standpoint after progressing to become one of European golf’s leading lights over the last decade under Foley’s guidance.

Foley was in Rose’s corner for all 10 of his PGA Tour victories, with his first coming at the Memorial Tournament in 2010 thanks to a three-shot win over Rickie Fowler.

Rose won his first WGC title in 2012 at Doral and went on to play a starring role in that year’s epic Ryder Cup comeback at Medinah.

He has been a mainstay for Team Europe ever since, taking his total number of Ryder Cup appearances to five.

The following year Foley helped Rose clinch his first Major at the US Open at Merion and he went on to enjoy five different periods as the No.1 ranked player in the World Rankings.

Golfing Gold

In 2016 Rose became golf’s gold medalist at the Olympic Games in Rio and two years later he won the FedExCup.

Rose’s most recent win was at last year’s Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.

“I am grateful for the successes I had under Sean’s tutelage and the career goals I was able to achieve,” said Rose.

“The door is open whenever I have questions or want his guidance, as he continues to be one of my closest friends.”
