Youngsters from across the UAE have been enjoying fun-filled free coaching clinics, being run by professional golfers from Golf DXB at the tenth edition of the DP World Tour Championship thanks to title sponsor DP World.
The DP World Generation Golf zone, which features a putting green and driving nets, has given first-timers a taste of the sport whilst providing professional coaching for more experienced youngsters in the Championship Village at Jumeirah Golf Estates.
Daniel van Otterdijk, SVP Group Communications, DP World commented: “I’m so proud to be in a business where we can make such a positive difference at a grassroots level. At DP World, we are focused on developing talent and investing in the next generation. Our partnership with European Tour has enabled us to achieve this ambition. It has opened the sport to new audiences and helped us support young players who could become future stars of the DP World Tour Championship.”
The global port operator has been a proud partner of the European Tour for ten years, annually supporting a selection of tournaments on the Race to Dubai and as title sponsor of the DP World Tour Championship. However, their commitment to the sport doesn’t stop with the professional game. Along with the DP World Generation Golf Zone, the company continues to support the development of amateur golf in the UAE through a series of grassroots initiatives delivered in partnership with the Emirates Golf Federation. These have included the National Junior Development Program and the Arabic Schools Initiative, which has now introduced over 4,500 school children to the sport.
Robert Fiala, Operations Manager at Emirates Golf Federation said: “The DP World Tour Championship is an amazing showcase for golf and provides us with the perfect platform to give young people their first taste of the sport. The Generation Golf zone is a fun environment for kids to try out their putting or improve their swing whilst the best 60 golfers in the world tackle the Earth course a few hundred meters away.”
