A diverse range of regional and international music acts are set to headline the 20th edition of the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters in January, with a nostalgic nod to the past two decades. The highly anticipated European Tour event will see the eclectic groups entertain thousands of spectators from Thursday to Saturday after play.
World renowned music artists will take to the tournament’s Public Village from 5pm – 8pm on Thursday 26, Friday 27 and Saturday 28 January, giving spectators the chance to enjoy the atmosphere of Doha’s biggest social event long after the golfing action comes to a close. The international line-up will feature one of the UK’s top soul bands, Atlantic Soul Orchestra, Miami Band, a popular Kuwaiti band with several number one hits and one of Kuwait’s favourite ‘Arabs Got Talent’ bands, Sheyaab.
The Atlantic Soul Orchestra have made their name as the UK’s most authentic soul band. Playing the very best of Stax and Atlantic soul music from soul music’s golden period, the 1960’s. Led by Lloyd Wade (who made his name singing with a range of artists from Take That to Eliza Doolittle), the Atlantic Soul Orchestra stir up a heady cocktail of sixties soul goodness. The British band are comprised of London’s session elite, having toured with or recorded with the likes of Amy Winehouse, Sir Elton John, Alicia Keys, Mark Ronson, Beverly Knight, Basement Jaxx, Lily Allen, Take That, Ed Sheeran and Girls Aloud.
Miami Band is a four-member Kuwaiti group founded in 1991, with number one hits and albums to their name. Their music is a fusion of revived traditional Kuwaiti songs and their very own modern songs, appealing to a wide range of audiences. Their upbeat style and roots overlap to bring forth a range of diverse music that is sure to captivate the masses.
Also hailing from Kuwait, Sheyaab is a touring comedy troupe that won over the hearts of judges and fans on the reality show Arab’s Got Talent. With the help of makeup and their home-grown talent, the musically-inclined trio appear elderly during their performances, playing various musical instruments while singing and dancing. The three young students continue to conceal their real identities and go by their alter ego names Romeo, Mirshiego and Alijandro.
“We are delighted to be celebrating the 20th anniversary of Commercial Bank Qatar Masters with our growing golf fans and with groups of friends and families in their thousands who join us year after year. Our entertainment line-up for this milestone year is a diverse set of musical acts to reflect the equally diverse nature of our guests and spectators at the tournament.” said Joseph Abraham, CEO of Commercial Bank.
