The 2016 staging of the Sixteen10 Mike Clark Charity Golf Day, with the support of new title sponsor FLASH Entertainment, has raised a staggering AED180,000 for the Friends of Cancer Patients charity.
The UAE has hosted a number of significant golf tournament over recent weeks but few could compare with the potentially life-changing outcome as this. Staged at The Address Montgomerie Dubai, the special event was held in loving memory of Mike Clark.
Mike was a former FLASH employee, who tragically passed away at a young age from cancer on October 16, 2012 and the annual golf event in his name brings together family, friends and the wider community to ensure Mike’s spirit lives on.
Organized by Sixteen10, the 2016 staging was a phenomenal success for an event that grows in stature each and every year and raises much needed awareness and funds for cancer research.

This year 88 hopeful golfers united by a common desire to support this special cause took to the ‘Monty’ course in the team competition over 18 holes on a stunning day under perfect conditions and blue skies. Special guests adding to the occasion including sporting legends and former England footballers Teddy Sheringham and Trevor Steven, and World Cup winning English rugby player Mike Tindall.
With competition high and scores low, the team competition was won by the inspired play of James Kachel, Stephen Barker, James Sibley, and Fraser Dawson, playing under the name of the ‘Dubaider Originals’. Off the course the prize giving took place as part of an unforgettable gala dinner attended by 200 people on the magnificent lawn of The Address Montgomerie, followed by both silent and live auctions with the evening completed by a celebrity Q&A.

Reza Sazegar, founder of Sixteen10 – the company he established in Mike Clarke’s memory to help raise money for charities through events and fundraising auctions said, “Firstly I have to thank all those who contributed and gave so generously to the success of the day. Everyone who played, who sponsored and made it possible made a difference just like Mike did.
“Mike Clark was a very special guy. He touched the lives of so many people, brought smiles to so many faces and was always there to help and support those lucky enough to know him. We wanted to create an event that was true to him and really captured his unique warmth. I believe we managed to do that while raising vital funds in his honour. We now have a wonderful occasion, fixed annually in the calendar that has its own memories and truly connects with people. So already we’re looking to build on that momentum and planning to make the 2017 event an even bigger success.”
Speaking at the event rugby Legend Mike Tindall added; “Everyone knows someone who has suffered from cancer. Whether a relative, friend or friend of a friend we all know the impact of the disease so it’s important we all do what we can to try and help find a cure. This event and all those supporting it are making a difference and I’m delighted to be involved.”
Alongside title Sponsors FLASH Entertainment, the Sixteen10 ‘Mike Clark’ Charity Golf Day was kindly supported by: Zenith Health and Wellness, Links Group, Ghaf Kitchen, Worldwide Golf and Kotak Mahindra, as well as a large number of companies who donated some great auction prizes including: Lamborghini Dubai, Fanatic Sports, Soneva, Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Italian Hospitality Collection, Six Senses Zighy Bay, and Jumeirah Group.
